This 1874 map of woodland density is given modern 3D relief relating to current rates of forest carbon. This mash-up of vintage cartography with current inventory data was created in ArcGIS Pro by first georeferencing the vintage map then assigning a Forest Service image service of carbon rates as its 3D elevation surface.
